On January 15th, 1919, Boston was struck by a disaster unlike any other. A massive tank filled with molasses burst open in the city's North End, unleashing a wave of sticky sweetness that swept through the streets like a tsunami. The flood, standing at least 25 feet in some areas, was devastating. Structures succumbed under the power of the treacherous goo.
